Per-Diem Crop Insurance Adjuster (Seasonal / As-Needed)
American Farm Bureau Insurance Services (AFBIS) is seeking experienced, service-minded Per-Diem Crop Insurance Adjusters to support our claims operations during peak seasons and high-volume loss events. This is an as-needed, seasonal position paid on a daily per-diem basis.
Our adjusters play an important role in serving farm families and rural communities by providing timely inspections, accurate appraisals, and clear, respectful communication throughout the claims process.
What You’ll Do

Conduct on-farm and field inspections for acreage, production, replant, and loss claims.

Appraise crop damage and determine cause(s) of loss in accordance with policy provisions.

Collect producer statements, maps, production records, and supporting documentation.

Prepare complete claim files and submit required reports within established deadlines.

Communicate professionally with producers, agents, and AFBIS claims leadership.

Follow all FCIC/RMA handbooks, bulletins, and procedures, along with AFBIS guidelines.

Maintain detailed, accurate documentation including notes, photos, measurements, and diagrams.
What We’re Looking For

Proven crop insurance adjusting experience; MPCI experience strongly preferred.

Active adjuster license/certifications as required by state and federal program rules.

Working knowledge of FCIC/RMA loss adjustment standards and compliance expectations.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage assignments independently.

Willingness to work outdoors in agricultural settings and variable weather.

Reliable transportation and ability to travel within assigned counties/territories.

Comfortable using mobile technology and claims/adjusting systems to report findings.
Preferred Qualifications

Multiple seasons of crop adjusting experience.

Catastrophe/event adjusting background (hail, wind, drought, flood, freeze, etc.).

Familiarity with local production practices in your assigned territory.

Bilingual skills are a plus in some areas.
