We process a wide range of agricultural insurance products, including specialized wind and hail policies and a variety of Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) plans. These plans encompass Revenue Protection, Yield Protection, Actual Production History, Area Risk Protection, and Whole Farm Revenue Protection. Our History
December 27, 1994
December 27, 1994, Pat Marshall, American Agricutural Insurance Company (AAIC) Underwriting, sent a memo to Virgil Applequist, CEO (AAIC), proposing a new company, “The National Farm Bureau Crop Insurance Agency” .
March 1995
A preliminary plan was presented to the AAIC Board of Directors at the March 8, 1995 meeting. It discussed a business plan for “American Farm Bureau Crop Insurance Agency”.
David Conover, AFBF Administrator, sent a note to Virgil Applequist on March 16, 1995 that contained an article from the Wall Street Journal. AFBIS seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
June 1, 1995
AFBIS began operation June 1, 1995, with a Corporate office at American Agricultural Insurance Company and American Farm Bureau Federation offices at 225 Touhy Avenue in Park Ridge, Illinois.
